This is our first day back to school {
sigh} ...but did you catch all the references in the Second Inaugural Address yesterday to the rights of LGBT people? Even Stonewall was mentioned! It really was thrilling to hear something more inclusive for a change. Hope everyone has a nice day.
Good luck, guys. I'm sure both of you will do well in school! And, yes, all those references Obama made were very inspiring and welcomed!
ReplyDeleteThe first day back is always somewhat of a downer...lost freedom and all.
ReplyDeleteObama's speech was amazing! I was tearing throughout. When he mentioned gay brothers and sisters and Stonewall I was in full-out crying mode.
And the poem by Richard Blanco - just beautiful!
Good luck with your first day back, guys. There's nowhere to go but up from here. :)
Hugs all around.
Oh, I thought school has started already...
ReplyDeleteDidn't hear Obama's speech, they only talked about Michelle's new look here!! *sigh*
Good luck with school! Hope you have a good day as well. *hugs to you both*
Much luck to the both of you this semester, though I'm certain you won't need it. As far as the president and is wholly inclusive remarks? I can only say its about time and hopefully it's just the very beginning. At any rate, I believe we are on the right track.
ReplyDeleteThose words of your President are unequivocal and must make you really hopeful, no wonder you were thrilled.
ReplyDeleteI went and checked Richard Blanco’s poem, it had me tearing up in a couple of places. I love his work.
Good luck with your first week back at school :o)
It certainly makes one hope that things can get better for GBLT people someday.
ReplyDeleteI'm embarrassed to say I didn't know much about Stonewall, Selma, or Seneca Falls. When I read your post I had to look it up. Thanks, guys.
ReplyDeleteHere's a link if anyone else is interested.

Hope your first day back was a good one. :)
Thanks so much for finding that link, Ann Marie. I wasn't familiar with the reference to Seneca Falls and forgot to look it up yesterday. Appreciate you posting the link! :)
DeleteIt was very moving and I think as time goes on history will show just how significant his speech was.
ReplyDeleteBrad and Matt: You are the example Obama was talking about. His aspirations, you make happen every day. So many can learn from the both of you.
