"On April 28, I proposed to my boyfriend, Tommy, in front of 700 people at his former college a cappella group's spring concert, which marked the 20th anniversary of the group. The Boston University Dear Abbeys had just released their new CD, which my boyfriend had spent the last two years recording and producing as the group's music director.
"I conspired to be summoned onstage so I could propose in front of almost all the people dearest to us. You see, the Dear Abbeys are more than a college singing group, they're a family. They're our family, so I knew it was crucial they be a part of the plan.

"We will be getting married on October 12, 2013, in honor of Matthew Shepard's life and the legacy the Shepards have created with their foundation's work in the world. If our story could help even one burdened soul or change one person's opinion on gay marriage, we'd feel accomplished.
"We're hoping that the love we experienced is shared in this video and offers hope to those struggling with their sexual identities or feeling isolated and scared, educates those who may not agree with gay marriage, and promotes equality while erasing hatred.

Ok that video was super sweet and made me cry! And wow, they sounded awesome!
ReplyDeleteYeah, and like Ivie said below, it's so cool they said,

Truly awesome!
I love this vid, it put a big smile on your face each time I see it. In the article I read, they called this vid, a "dare-you-not-to-cry proposal video". They're so right, it's hard not to cry when we see how much touched Tommy is.
ReplyDeleteAnd a proposal on a bended knee is soooo romantic. Wow. (And no, I didn't get one *sigh*)
*hugs to you both*
Yeah, nothing like a "bended knee" proposal. So nice.
DeleteLol! Me either, Carnell! Bust! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't watch the video from work so will check it out later, but I loved the day that choose to be married on. That's awesome
ReplyDeleteYeah. Their marriage date was really special. I think I would like these guys!
DeleteSo I finally clicked on this at home last night and I couldn't hear it. I turned up my computer full blast, Youtube full blast, tried headphones. I could hear the guys singing. But I couldn't hear Kyle. Ah, well. It ended up pissing me off so I didn't cry, which actually maybe for me was a good thing. The pictures were lovely though so I knew the sentiment.
DeleteYou can try this version with better audio Ivan. And yes I cried too. Ahh, love is beautiful. Thanks for sharing this boys.

ReplyDelete"...that is true love right there"
DeleteSo true.
Matt,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this and others you have shown before. This is so beautiful; such love and true emotion. They are both truly special, just like you and Brad. (((hugs)))
Thanks, Susan. Hugs to you!
DeleteI love it!! How beautiful and heartwarming!! Thanks so much for sharing this with us.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, how inspiring. I love these guys. They are just so special.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, How can anyone say that is not true love. Those types of feelings, emotions and his reaction can not be faked.
DeleteSo does this video foreshadow a future event in the "Matt and Brad Show?" :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Jerry. "The Matt and Brad Show" is just working on the current episode! LOL ;-)
DeleteYou boys sure have a knack for posting things that make me bawl my eyes out. Thank you . . . I think.
ReplyDeleteTears of joy are always good. ;)
DeleteI've posted that video on my blog last week too. It's so amazing and makes me cry every time :)
ReplyDeleteTotally broke down and cried. Just what I needed today; proof that love really exists. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAw, that was so sweet. They seem so happy and it was nice to see how supportive everyone was. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh boy! I sniffled the whole way through. It was so sweet. Gosh, I'm likin' Jerry's idea of what this foreshadows for you guys...hmmmm
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
Hugs
Wasn't that beautiful? I watched and I thought about courage. The courage it takes for each of you to be a gay man in this world. The courage it takes to put yourselves out there day in and day out in a world that can be dangerous--bigoted---hateful. I marveled at those two men on the screen, and then I marveled anew at the two of you...at my best friend Rick and his partner Fred...at men who dare to love despite the hate that surrounds them. I marveled at all of you...whom I love and respect so very much.
ReplyDeleteWon't it be a grand day when this type of video is so commonplace that it holds no real special meaning other than to celebrate the love between two people? Won't that be a day to rejoice?? When gay marriages are so commonplace that they are a part of the daily fabric of our lives.
I cannot wait for that day.
Crying isn't something I do, I can usually keep those emotions bottled up, and I wasn't going to change now..... I had to lean back to avoid dropping tears on my keyboard.
ReplyDeleteWhat else can I say, that video was the most beautiful thing I've seen in ages.
Thanks guys, you two always seem to make a bad day look good with your posts.
Rolly
That was really sweet. Thanks for sharing guys!
ReplyDeleteI love videos like this! That was so sweet!!
ReplyDeleteWith the state of my hormones right now, I don't think I can watch this video at work without bawling. But I loved the significance of the date and the method of proposing.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I miss you guys!
Hey Raji, miss you, too!
DeleteThis is so sweet and totally awesome. Thanks so much for sharing with us. :o)
ReplyDeleteThat's true love. I also love how everyone else reacted.
