When both of us came out as gay four years ago, we were in our mid-teens (15 for Brad, 16 for Matt). It seemed at the time that we had done something pretty monumental...
Hi Everybody! We're guest posting over at one of our favorite blogs, Chicks & Dicks.
This month their theme is Living Out With Pride in celebration of Pride Month all over the world. Our guest post is one thing we're doing to celebrate the festivities.
We worked on this post together and we hope you head over and check it out. Oh, and while you're there leave us a comment to let us know you dropped by. Pretty please? ;-)

Your post on Chicks & Dicks is really interesting. Thank you both for sharing this. The fact that you have to keep coming out over and over again is a very important point to make.
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog for a while now and really enjoy it. Normally I just lurk but since Thorny's post the other day I have been encouraged to comment :)
Know that your blog touches a lot of people's hearts around the world *blows a kiss*
Hey Alder! Thanks for your comment.
DeleteWe both really appreciate your saying the blog touches people's hearts. And very, very glad you "came out" of lurkdom on this day when we're celebrating our own "coming out." Hope you'll jump in more often! ♥
What a great story! Glad you got to enjoy the vacation gift and really be yourselves. I agree that what you said about coming out being a constant thing and having to be careful that you don't put yourselves in danger by doing so. It's sad that you have to take that into consideration, but hopefully it'll change some day.
ReplyDeleteYou two are great role models ya know! I know there are lots who read what you write and feel they have a kindred spirit or find encouragement.
Hi Amilyn! From one kindred spirit to another, thank you! ♥
DeleteThat's great!! I love C&D, too. Have a good day :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Carnell. You have a good day, too!
DeleteWell done, :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ivie! ♥
DeleteI"m repeating myself, but great post, gentlemen.
ReplyDeletemc, you can repeat yourself all you want! Thank you!
DeleteHi Brad & Matt,
ReplyDeleteSomething I have wanted to say for a while - although you both may ultimately choose other professions, you two are such excellent writers. Your blog and the post at C&D shows that. I feel either of you could write professionally if you wanted.
And guys, I may usually address you together alphabetically just to give 'poor Brad' a chance to come first once in a while [in print, I mean:)], but you both are equally first in my heart!
Hey Susan. WOW, that's a huge compliment and really nice feedback. I wrote a couple of short stories in high school that seemed to turn out pretty good. At least the teacher liked them. Over in the Young Adult LGBT Group in Goodreads they post a monthly photo prompt and I've been meaning to see if I can come up with something. Maybe during the summer with school being out I might try my hand.
DeleteWriting nonfiction, like essays and posts for this blog, seem a lot easier. I'll tell you, my hat's off to anybody who can write good fiction. I told the GR group that if I do write something I'm probably going to have to have at least 500 beta readers before I put anything out in public! LOL.
And, thank you for putting my name first!! LOL! I can't remember how we decided to put Matty's first! Hmmmmm, maybe he was in charge of that little detail! LOL!!! ;-)
Brad,
DeleteI would definitely question him about that! Maybe it s/b 6 months on, 6 months off. And then switch. :)
I like that! Good suggestion. I can't remember why it went that way... Maybe since I was setting up the account I just put my name first. Like I've told Brad before (even though it was about a different, er, topic), "We can always switch whenever you want." LOL!
DeleteYeah? And Brad's response was? :)
DeleteLike I've told Brad before (even though it was about a different, er, topic), "We can always switch whenever you want." LOL!
DeleteOMG! I'm dying laughing over here :)
LOL!!!
DeleteSusan, my response was that we should try switching the names (and other 'certain things' that can be "switched") preiodically! ;-)
Carnell, yeah, pretty funny, huh? I didn't see Matty's comment until just now! ;-)
Post read and comment left. You two are a real joy.
ReplyDeleteHey Janice! Thank you so much!
DeleteHeading over now...I'm prepared to be wow'd.
ReplyDeleteHehe! You silly gurl! ;-)
DeleteI've just read your post and have to say that it was really interesting. I always read your posts and love to read about your experiences and thoughts. You are certainly a heart-warming couple and I'm sure everyone who reads your blog has a soft spot for you both!
ReplyDeleteHi Dianna. Thank you so much. We both have a soft spot ourselves for everyone who follows us here! ((HUGS))
DeleteThat was a very good post, congratulations :D
ReplyDeleteHi Sylvia! Thank you!
DeleteYou guys both brighten my day! And, yes I agree with Susan, must write! Oh, and I did leave a comment. Love C&D!
ReplyDelete*hugs*
Hey Amanda! Thanks! And thanks for your comment on C&D. I ended up give you a two-part reply over there! ;-)
DeleteRead and loved the post boys. Peace & Love
ReplyDeleteHey Katty! Thanks!
DeleteSmart idea, you get double traffic for one blog post -- now when are we going to hear about Matty getting sweaty and you helping him shower?
ReplyDeletehehe! Stay tuned! ;)
