I love this man

I remember seeing this man interviewed somewhere on TV and all I remember was that he seemed like one of the wisest, most gentle, most intelligent, and fiercely compassionate human being I've ever heard.

P.S. - Just so you know, Brad and I are keeping a low profile this week. Final exams are on the near horizon. Lucky me, my birthday is during that week! {sigh}

  1. What a wonderfully refreshing viewpoint!

What most of the "God fearing" and "religious" people forget is - How can God hate Love? It is humans who like to twist and turn the love into fulfilling their own agenda... *sigh*

Good luck for your exams, Matt and Brad! :) I am confident that you will do really good!

  6. Thanks everybody. I guess I should say the exams are about 3 weeks away, but we're busy planning how to get ready.

If you're interested in learning more about Desmond Tutu, here's a link that has some good information. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desmond_Tutu

I especially like what he said under the section about gay rights:

Tutu has increased his criticism of conservative attitudes to homosexuality within his own church, equating homophobia with racism. Stating at a conference in Nairobi that he is "deeply disturbed that in the face of some of the most horrendous problems facing Africa, we concentrate on 'what do I do in bed with whom'". In an interview with BBC Radio 4 on 18 November 2007, Tutu accused the church of being obsessed with homosexuality and declared: "If God, as they say, is homophobic, I wouldn't worship that God."

  7. Matty,
You and Brad will do great. I remember how I hated finals week. I wish I had had someone to help me prepare. I'm such a procrastinator and crammed for every final. Not such a good idea.
Well, okay, everything but Calculus. really. how do you cram for that?! LOL
    Well, anyway, study and relax.
Oh, and thanks for the info on Desmond Tutu, wouldn't you just love to meet this man in person? Oh ya.

    Hugs to you both

  8. Desmond Tutu is one of the most inspirational people I know. He's someone I look to when I wonder sometimes if humans really have redeeming virtues. Because he proves that we do.

Good luck with the exam planning - you guys are smart to be thinking ahead (and not just about naked cake.) I was always a last-minute crammer, and that is not a low-stress way to live.

  10. Thanks for that Matt! Its so awesome to know that such inspirational people are out there fighting the good fight. And as a fellow south african, it makes me especially proud to know we have such a public figure representing us :)

Good luck for your exams! I have a few coming up myself. Study, study...cram cram (just a little!)

    Hugs, Reagan.

  11. I love Desmond Tutu. I remember when I was younger, I just like saying his name because I thought it was funny. Now that I'm all growed up, I find his words so inspiring. Thanks for sharing that!
